According to Google’s search ranking update page on September 26, 2022, the Core Update rollout is complete.
This update took 15 days to complete the rollout. Now it is time to check your analytics to see how your site was affected and what steps you should take.
How to determine if you have been affected?
Google makes core updates to all search results, which have the potential to affect entire websites. John Mueller (Google Search Advocate) explains how core updates impact the entire website rather than specific elements:
“With the core updates, we don’t focus so much on just individual issues, but rather the relevance of the website overall.
And that can include things like the usability, and the ads on a page, but it’s essentially the website overall.”
With this in mind, a change in search rankings on most pages on your website indicates that the core update affected you.
Why do you need to care?
However, the overall impact of this Google September 2022 core update is less widely affected across sites. Now is the time to start digging into your analytics data to see if any pages have lost visibility or rankings – and figure out a plan of action to improve those pages to regain any lost rank over time.
What can you do if you are affected?
Google has previously provided advice on what to do if you are negatively affected by a core update. Google has said you can notice recovery between core updates, but the most considerable modifications will come following a future core update.
